FEATURES: Compact, spreading evergreen
shrub is covered with spikes of rosy purple
flowers in summer. Reblooms sporadically
through winter. Dark green leaves on reddish
stems. Excellent selection for borders,
massing, or containers. Does well in coastal
regions.
CAUTION: Protect from hot, drying winds.
BLOOM TIME: Late spring through summer,
sporadic rebloom through winter.
EXPOSURE: Light shade in hottest climates and
full sun elsewhere.
SOIL: Very well-drained soil.
AVERAGE SIZE: 18-36" tall by 24-36" wide.
GROWTH RATE: Fast growing.
HARDINESS: Hardy to 10°F, but young plants
should be protected from frost.
WATER: Regular.
FERTILIZER: In early spring, before growth
begins.
PRUNING: After bloom, stems that have
flowered can be cut back one-half or trimmed
lightly.
